The T.S.T.C. proudly extends invitations to all Texas Dart TEAMS to join in competition for the title of 2004 TEXAS STATE TEAM CHAMPION (T.S.T.C.).  This Eleventh Annual Championship Tournament will be held over the weekend of August 28th and 29th in Austin Texas.

Team Budda will certainly be on hand to (try) and defend their crown as the 2003 Texas State Team Champions and we are confident that most, if not all, of the other 2003 TEAMS will be throwing their TEAM best to take it away from them.  A total of 18 TEAMS from across Texas competed in August 2003 for the title.

A TEAM Match style of competition is rather unique at tournament level.  Previous T.S.T.C. tournaments convinced us all that the overall theme for the T.S.T.C. is the way to go.  Texas TEAMS meeting Texas TEAMS provides for serious darts, powerful TEAM spirit and an unsurpassed level of excitement for all!

The requirements are simple.  Put together an 11-player (7 men and 4 ladies - Only 9 players: 6 men and 3 ladies may participate in any one match) TEAM of current Texas residents from the same locale . . .Come up with the $350.00 Registration Fee (if paid by August 16th, 2004 or you can pay $400.00 at the door on August 28th) . . . Complete a Registration and TEAM Roster form . . . get it to us a couple of weeks before the event (August 16th at the latest) . . . then practice, practice, practice.

We emphasize the fact that this competition is open to all TEAMS meeting the entry requirements.  TEAMS are welcome to compete for themselves, for their Association, or for their “Home Pub”, etc.

2004 TEXAS STATE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Tournament Format

Ø      The tournament will be run as a “modified” Round Robin.  That is, a number of flights or brackets will be formed depending upon the total number of TEAMS entered.

Ø      The TEAMS will be assigned to flights by a “luck of the draw” method.

Ø      The TEAMS then compete under standard Round Robin format to decide the winner(s) of their flight for advancement to the finals.

EXAMPLE:      With 24 TEAMS entered, there would be four flights of 6 TEAMS each.  Each flight would consist of 5 rounds with 3 matches per round.  Will advance minimum of 6 (preferably 8), TEAMS to finals to compete for Top 4.

Activities Schedule

Pre T.S.T.C.:               All TEAMS invited to local area regular blind draw tournament the evening before T.S.T.C. competition.

Day 1 (9:00 A.M.):       TEAM Captains’ Meeting for general information and drawing for flights.

Day 1 (9:00A.M. to 10:00 A.M.): TEAM pictures

Day 1 (10:00 A.M.):     All TEAMS compete to decide which will advance to the finals.

Day 1- Evening:          Open Blind Draw Doubles.  Open to all dart players everywhere.

Day 2 (11:00 A.M.):     All TEAMS advanced from Day 1 compete for the Championship

Tournament Prize

The amount of the purse = (Number of TEAMS x $300 = Tournament Prize).

The Prize will be distributed to Top 4 TEAMS at the end of the finals on Sunday.  The approximate Payout percentages are as follows:

TEXAS STATE TEAM CHAMPIONS (1st)                  50%

                        T.S.T.C. RUNNER UP TEAM (2nd)                           25%

                        THIRD                                                                         15%

                        FOURTH                                                                     10%

Match Format

Ø      The format for the Matches was designed for the 9-player TEAM so that each player competes in exactly 2 games.

Ø      Each match will consist of nine (9) games with 1 leg in each game.  A TEAM earns 1 game point for each game won.

Ø      The TEAM earning 5 or more points wins the match.

Ø      All nine games are played.  In case of ties for the number of matches won, the total number of game points won is used as a tiebreaker.
